Less Words, More Pictures. Enjoy!

Ok I know I'm
getting too wordy so here are a few pictures of me just doing hair. My "sister" Sasha came to the city with her father to experience the magic of a New York City Christmas. Yesterday she stopped by the salon to get her hair flat ironed.
Heres the finished product:

Blonde for Christmas

Carmen initially came to me for just a haircut, however during the consultation I asked her about her color and she told me that since she moved to Manhattan from Puerto Rico six months ago she'd been having trouble finding a hairdresser in the city that could get her as blonde as her stylist back home. Frustrated, she had resigned to doing her hair color herself.
Since she told me that her family was coming into town for the new year there was no way I was going to let her
leave without the rich buttery blonde that she desired.
The salon is having a holiday hi-light special so we decided to focus mainly on lightening and evening out her base while adding just a few bright hi-lights throughout. I also added a few low-lights for definition through her ends.
Her cut is one of my favorites I picked up from Daniele a la Raymond Marc Salon (Walnut Creek, Ca). Its actually just a reverse a-line with graduated long layers and this cut is glamorous and incredibly lightweight for people with a lot of hair while maintaining a lot of movement and length.
She is happy. Heres another pic:

Short But Funky

Cleivy first came to Dramatics over the summer looking for a change. Her hair was about shoulder-length with a lot of layers in it, but an uneven curl pattern made it hard for her to wear natural. Desperate for a chic style that's easy to maintain, this Bronx girl ditched the shop in the hood and came to see me.
Although Cleivy had a general idea of what she wanted, we
talked for a long time to firm up the details. She wanted to utilize the strong curls on her crown and also to keep the fullness and height on top. We took the sides close where the curl pattern was
less uniform, in order to create a sophisticated silhouette while maintaining a fresh and manageable style.
Cleivy and I have done a couple different mohawks over the past few months and these pictures are from the most recent variation. She came to me with a picture of Rhianna's most recent style and told me that she wanted to start flat ironing the front. We kept a strong perimeter line and graduated from the back to the front to achieve a versitile look that can be worn fun and natural or sleek and styled.

Keepin It Natural

This is Elizabeth. While home for thanksgiving, Elizabeth decided to get her hair done by her old time regular. She was tinted a light coppery reddish-brown with a few scattered buttery highlights, and her ends were saturated with a mixture of the new highlights and  previous highlight and base combinations. Upon returning to The City, Elizabeth realized she desired a more natural look, and came to see me.
I started out by toning down the copper and red tones and blending out the highlights while  maintaining natural color variegation in her base. Then I went through with a fine weave and placed sun-kissed highlights throughout resulting in a beautiful natural golden blonde.

A Fabulous Free Haircut

My model for Ivory's precision cutting class, Emma is an Italian girl with a LOT of hair. As a busy New Yorker and a third-year drama major at the NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Emma needed a style that was fun and versatile yet still sophisticated and easy to maintain. I gave her an a-line perimeter that covered her neck and fell softly over her shoulders and then layers throughout to maintain even weight distribution. After the blow dry and flat iron, I went back through and texturized the ends to remove any excess bulk (which she still had plenty of) and to smooth and finish the style.
